Contemplating Jerusalem and Galilee

Join us on a very special visit to Jerusalem and the Galilee

An Interfaith Tour in November 2018

Denise Moll and Lynne Scholefield are leading a visit to Israel/Palestine in November 2018 and want to invite you to join us. We have planned it in a way to make it different from many other trips. We want it to be a contemplative experience, rooted in silent prayer each day and having opportunities for worship with different groups; for example our Sunday service is with Syrian Christians. We want to engage with the traditions, the sources of our faith in place and story, but also to engage with the present realities and lived experience. We aim to approach the current fraught situation in a non-dual way - really listening to the people we meet from the different faiths, and being open to the impact on us of the places we visit and the land itself. We will be engaging with people and groups who are working for peace and reconciliation and sharing in their different narratives and identities.

Highlights of the itinerary are:

  • Bethlehem;
  • Jewish Jerusalem, the Old City and Western Wall;
  • The Haram al Sharif, Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa Mosque;
  • Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre;
  • Galilee and the Gospel sites, including a boat trip;
  • The Baha’i Temple and Gardens in Haifa; Masada, Qumran and the Dead Sea.
  • In Jerusalem we stay at the amazing Tantur Ecumenical Institute overlooking Bethlehem. It is close enough to walk there. Tantur has been very involved in developing relationships between people of different faiths and between Israelis and Palestinians.

    View from Tantur

    From the Tantur Ecumenical Institute hill-top there are panoramic views.
